*Next 14 years he coached in the high school ranks for Big Beaver, Keego Harbor, Saginaw High, and Alpena

*Assistant coach at Michigan State before going to Wyoming where he compiled a 35-10-5 record

*University of Nebraska
Led Cornhuskers to 9 Bowl Games in 11 years  Captured 2 National Championships and had 3 undefeated seasons

* Retired as the winningest coach in the nation with a 101-20-2 record in 11 years.

*Career collegiate record of 136-30-7 with a .806 winning percentage

*Inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame - 1981
